Lee Naylor

Lee Martyn Naylor (born 19 March 1980) is an English professional footballer who currently plays for Scottish Premier League club Celtic.

Naylor was born in Bloxwich, and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on leaving school in 1996. He made his debut against Birmingham City at St Andrews in 1997. He went on to represent England national football team Under-21s. He broke through in the 2002-2003 season and was part of the squad in the play off final in Cardiff on 26 May 2003. In the 2003-2004 season he was the only ever present player in the Premiership campaign. The 2004-2005 season was one of the best for Naylor, scoring one goal. He was revistalised by Glenn Hoddle and in the 2005-06 season which culminated in him scoring a great free kick against Stoke City.

Naylor signed for Celtic on 23 August 2006 and became the team’s first choice left back, winning a Player of the Month award for October 2006 in the Scottish Premier League. His performances for Celtic have exceeded all expectations with Naylor recently drawing praise from England manager Steve McClaren[citation needed]. His ability to combine attacking attributes with his defensive duties has convinced Celtic fans that he is an integral component of a Celtic team competing in the last sixteen of the UEFA Champions League.
