Karl Svensson

Karl Svensson [IPA: ka?(r)l 'sv?ns?n] (born 21 March 1984 in Jönköping) is a Swedish football defender currently playing for Scottish Premier League club Rangers.

After playing for a local club and Jönköpings Södra IF, he joined IFK Göteborg in 2003. He had shown much talent in leading a defense, despite his young age, and he has also had the role of team captain. In 2005 he almost led the club to their first Allsvenskan title since 1996 but lost out to Djurgårdens IF in the penultimate game.

He signed on to Rangers on 26 May 2006 for an undisclosed fee on a 3 year contract. The fee was reported to have been in the region of £600,000.

Karl lists his two footballing heroes as a child as Patrik Andersson and Lorenzo Amoruso, who also was a Rangers player.
